Abia First Lady Distributes farming materials to rural farmers

Agriculture support trickle down to rural farmers

The wife of the Abia state governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, has praised Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the president, for empowering rural farmers with enhanced agricultural resources to bolster food security nationwide.

Speaking at the Institute of Agricultural Business and Entrepreneurship in Okpu Umuobo, Osisiomangwa Local Government Area, during the distribution of these resources by the National Agricultural Land Development Authority in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative, Mrs. Otti emphasized the initiative’s contribution to enhancing livelihoods and empowering farmers nationwide.

Represented by Mrs. Nkechi Chibueze, the Labour Party Woman Leader for Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, Mrs. Otti welcomed the program as a significant step toward boosting agricultural output and ensuring ample food supply in the markets during the harvest season.

She stressed the importance of beneficiaries utilizing the improved seedlings for farming purposes rather than selling them.

Prince Paul Ikonne, the Executive Secretary of the National Agricultural Land and Development Authority, highlighted that the initiative stemmed from President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to curbing inflation and ensuring food security.

He encouraged beneficiaries to return to farming to support the government’s efforts in alleviating hunger and addressing food shortages.

In her response, Mrs. Catherine Wamah, representing the beneficiaries from Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, expressed gratitude to the federal government for the generous support and pledged to utilize the enhanced agricultural inputs to achieve a bumper harvest.

Over 700 beneficiaries from the 17 local government areas of the state participated in the program.
