INEC: 1.9 Million PVCs Collected Ahead of Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by registered voters across Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The figure represents 81.50 per cent of the state’s 2,339,233 registered voters, according to a statement issued on Thursday by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee.

INEC said 432,843 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent of registered voters, remain uncollected. The commission explained that the uncollected cards have been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in line with its established practice.

The commission also disclosed that some voters whose PVCs were damaged, defaced or lost had applied for replacement cards. Of those who applied, 6,101 voters have printed downloadable copies of their PVCs.

INEC said it has published a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of PVCs collected across the state on its official website, providing stakeholders and the public with access to the detailed figures.

The electoral body further assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and residents of Osun State that it is fully prepared for the election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.

INEC said it remains committed to conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election.

The election will determine who governs Osun State for the next four years, with voters across the state expected to exercise their franchise in the keenly contested governorship poll.
