ABSU CULT RIVAL CLASH,ABSG URGED STUDENTS TO DESIST FROM ACTION CAPABLE OF TRUNCATING THEIR EDUCATION , WHILE POLICE IS ON THE MANHUNT OF PERPETRATORS.
A pandemonium yesterday at Miracle Lodge along Uturu/Isiukwuato as a newly graduated student of Abia State University Uturu ( Names withheld) who signed out just last week Friday was shot to death by allegedly cult rival groups.
According to sources who spoke anonymity, the problem started when the murdered student escape manhunt by the rival cult group only to be killed yesterday morning
Students were seen scampering for safety due to the fear of reprisal attack and mass arrest by the security men
Meanwhile the Abia state police command seemed to be aware. As some police officers, in collaboration with the military, swiftly responded and arrived at the crime scene, causing the culprits to flee upon sighting the police.
The corpse was evacuated from the crime scene to the morgue and exhibits has been recovered. Investigations are ongoing, and we will continue to update the public on its progress
In a press briefing,Prince Okey Kanu used the opportunity to inform that , it has come to the notice of the State government that there were skirmishes in Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) between two rival student groups during which a student lost his life. He however noted that some remedial actions have been taken to return normalcy in the institution, adding that investigations have equally been instituted.
“As a responsible government, some remedial actions have been taken to restore peace and order on campus . Government has dispatched security agencies to take control of the situation at ABSU and students of ABSU and indeed all tertiary institutions in the State have been advised to refrain from violence and other actions that may negatively affect their lives and studies . Investigations in that regard have been instituted”
Contributing, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma said the government is yet to establish the details of what transpired but assured that once investigations are concluded the people would equally be updated.
“news filtered in that there was a cult clash on campus. Of course, at this point, we would expect to get briefings from the security agencies. At this moment, what we know is that it was a cult clash but we have not established the details of what transpired. Once we do that , we will update the media.”
The Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Chinedu Ekeke and Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Ugochukwu Okoroafor were present at the briefing
