NIPR holds maiden NIPR week, inducts new members…. Comrade Loveth Ekwemalor becomes first female fellow Imo state

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations ( NIPR) has held her maiden NIPR week at Abeokuta the Ogun state capital.

A Week long event which took place at June 12 Cultural Center Abeokuta had The theme of the Conference to be “Leveraging Public Relations as a Critical Tool for Nigeria’s Economic and Reputation Renaissance”

The Institute used the occasion to induct 70 students as student members, 53 Associate members, 15 Fellows of the Institute, and four Honorary Fellowships.

Speaking during the induction the NIPR President, Dr Ike Neliaku urged the new inductees and Fellows of the Institute to uphold the highest professional standard and key into the value addition approach of the Institute.

The President announced that NIPR is establishing a Finishing School in Nasarawa state modelled in line with the Nigerian Law School to produce thoroughbred and Certified Professionals.

Neliaku said there was need for the Public Relations practitioners to continue to strive toward adding value to the economic transformation of the country.

He described Public Relations as a valuable tool to promote good governance.

He said that government must continue to engage the services of professionals in the image projection of government activities in the country.

Neliaku noted that plans were on by the institute to establish Public Relations University in Nigeria , adding that the Council of the Institute has initiated programmes that would better the lots of the members.

He explained that the bold step to establish NIPR energy, aviation, maritime, banking, insurance, pension, and enterprise hubs is to improve its economic base

The Director-General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Mohammed Bulama , described his induction into the institute as a call to join the efforts to reposition it.

Bulama promised to be a good ambassador of the institute in the discharge of his duties.

Another inductee, Dr Chijioke Ukadike, Head of Corporate and Strategic Communications of Rivers Port Complex, Nigeria Ports Authority, renewed his determination to the upliftment of public relations.

”It’s not something you can pay money to get, we were screened thoroughly by a panel of 20 experts. We are proud that such Institute exists in Nigeria”

”As a fellow, it’s an enormous responsibility to champion professionalism in Nigeria,” he said.

Comrade Loveth Ekwemalor former Chairman of NIPR Imo chapter who was among the women inducted as Fellows and the first female Fellow from Imo state Chapter commended the Institute for the rigorous process she passed through.

She said it was not all about money but determination and hard work.

She commended her Chapter Chairman Mr.Ever.Bezze Nwosu and members of Imo chapter for their support hinting she will continue to support the activities of the Institute more especially at her chapter.,Said The excited Fellow of the Institute

Other major events that took place at NIPR week with over 2000 delegates across the country were:
The confinement of the host Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun as Patron of the prestigious Institute.
In his appreciation, the Governor donated brand new bus and Office Secretariat to Ogun state chapter of the Institute,

The delegates used the opportunity of the NIPR week to explore the beauty of the ancient city of Abeokuta in guided tours.

There was also a showcase of the beauty of Adire in what was called Adire on Runway Galanite in which the wife of Ogun state Governor Her Excellency Bamidele Abiodun was the Special guest.

The event came to an end with a glamorous closing party ( Owambe) at the prestigious 5 star Hotel Park Inn Radisson in which the delegates had much fun.
