Nigeria Congratulates São Tomé President Carlos Vila Nova on Re-election, Pledges Stronger Bilateral Ties
The Federal Government of Nigeria has congratulated President Carlos Vila Nova of São Tomé and Príncipe on his re-election, describing the peaceful electoral process as another demonstration of the country’s commitment to democracy, the rule of law and constitutional governance.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria commended the people of São Tomé and Príncipe for participating peacefully in the electoral process and reaffirmed its solidarity with the island nation.
The Federal Government said the outcome of the election reflects the commitment of the people of São Tomé and Príncipe to democratic values and the rule of law.
Nigeria also pledged to deepen bilateral relations with São Tomé and Príncipe, particularly in areas of mutual interest, including regional peace and security, economic development and democratic consolidation.
According to the statement, the Federal Government remains committed to strengthening the longstanding relationship between both countries and exploring opportunities that would promote shared prosperity and stability.
Nigeria further wished President Vila Nova a successful second term in office, expressing optimism that his administration would continue to advance the progress and development of São Tomé and Príncipe.
The Federal Government also prayed for continued peace, stability and prosperity for the people of São Tomé and Príncipe, while reaffirming Nigeria’s readiness to work with the country towards stronger regional cooperation.
President Vila Nova’s re-election, Nigeria noted, provides another opportunity for both countries to strengthen their partnership and contribute to greater democratic stability and economic development within the region.
